In the meantime, Fast bowler Tim Southee is now going to lead the Black Caps in the upcoming five matches that are going to be held against England starting in Christchurch on November 1.

The 29 year old batsman played for Northern Districts on Thursday but then he has opted to rest due to the issue which also kept him out of a Test against Bangladesh in the month of March.

New Zealand coach Gary Stead told the NZC website, “We’ve been monitoring the injury for a while now and it’s the same issue that ruled him out of the final test against Bangladesh back in March,”

He added, “It’s disappointing timing for Kane at the start of an exciting Kiwi summer, but we feel it’s the right decision with a busy season ahead.”

On the other hand, Fast bowler Blair Tickner was also named in the New Zealand squad after making his first appearance against India this year.

New Zealand host England in a two-test series beginning at Tauranga on 20th November 2019.
