But these reports have been contradicted by the fact that the newest Xiaomi Mi 5 will come up with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 processor only. But if trusted these speculations the MEdiaTek will grab the Xiaomi’s attention for the Helio X20 chipset.
About Helio X20 Chipset
It is touted as the world’s first processor which will come up with tri-cluster CPU and will be the first Deca-core processor for the smart phones as well as tablets. It is basically designed especially for the handsets which will be tagged in the middle range or higher range. It is the world’s first chipset which have Tri-Cluster CPU architecture as we have told earlier. Company has also announced that this chipset will be readily available in the market by the third quarter of this year and by the end of this year, people can have this chipset in all their consumer electronics products.
In Helio X20, there will be three clusters which will help in increasing the efficiency of the chipset and very obviously one will have the greater efficiency in dealing with the different workloads. Out of this Tri-cluster, there will be one cluster of two two ARM Cortex-A72 cores which will be clocked at the frequency of 2.5GHz and two cluster of four ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocked at the frequency of 2GHZ which will handle medium loads and the last one will run at the frequency of 1.4GHz to handle lighter activities.
For now Xiaomi is currently working with the third edition of the Snapdragon 810 chipset on Xiaomi Mi Note Pro and company is also claiming that they have worked together with the Qualcomm to enhanced the processor and has refined the processor.
Problems with Snapdragon 810
There are some problems associated with the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 chipset like over heating issues when used for long. Many grapevines claims that this over heating issue was the reason why Samsung opted to go for their own processor i.e Exynos chipset for galaxy s6 and galaxy S6 Edge.
After Samsung, it was LG who moved away from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 chipset. For their latest variant LG G4, instead of Snapdragon 810, LG preferred lower-powered Snapdragon’s 808 chipset. If rumors to be trusted then the reason why opted for chipset other than 810 is its battery issues and over-heating problem, though nothing has been officially said, these all are just rumors.
But Qualcomm on their part are rubbishing any of such reports of overheating issues on their Snapdragon 810 chipset. Possibly even Qualcomm is also working on bringing the Deca core processor which company will introduce to compete against the MediaTek’s latest venture. Company will dub it with the name of Snapdragon 818. It is also anticipated to support LTE Cat-10 speed.
