Yuzvendra Chahal Has Something To Say-Check It Out

In between all the coronavirus crisis going on, the road map for the T20 World Cup is under discussion. However, the young cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal has something to say in this context. He says that the Indian Premier League (IPL) should be started before any other tournament or series so that the players could get time back in form after their long vacation off-field.

The T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in October but the ICC is still going through the contingency plans for the event in Australia after the coronavirus brought the world to a standstill.

It would be the best option to resume with IPL as it will be played for over 2 months. So everyone will get time to prepare themselves. In my opinion, it would be better to resume cricket with IPL than with any series,” Chahal told in an interview with Sports Tak.

In the recent ICC executive committee meeting, the board has still had not got to any final decision regarding the T20 World Cup but it is getting quite clear that the tournament dates will be pushed to Feb-March 2021.

However, some changes will be seen amid the resume of the sport. The match will be played but with empty stadiums. There is a large possibility that the stadiums will remain empty for some period during the time of the matches. Also, there are discussions on allowing the use of external substances to polish the ball to do away with one of the cricket’s oldest and infamous practices to polish the ball, which is using the saliva.

When asked about no use of saliva to shine the ball, Chahal said that this would make the game turn in the batsman’s favor.

“It will have an impact on drift and swing on the ball. So, in the end, it will become easier for batsmen,” the leggie said.
“So another rule should be added then that if a batsman hits a six then he himself will have to bring back the ball,” Chahal said jokingly.

Due to the lockdown, the whole country is been wrecked. The lockdown has not now continued for more than a month which started on March 25th is going to last till May 3rd. In between all this, all the sports events across the world also been suspended or canceled and the players are seemingly following the lockdown confining them into their houses.

The young leg spinner said that the lockdown was certainly difficult for him for the initial 2 weeks but now he has started to see the positives from the situation.

“In 20 years of cricket career, this is the first time that I am not being able to do anything. But you can take it positively also that it will make you mentally stronger. It was difficult for me in the initial two days because I haven’t stayed at home for so long.”
It is certain that the lockdown which took place to protect the people from coronavirus has affected a lot of occupations and people, sports being one of them. No matches are being played and everyone is confined in their homes. Now, the public can only wait to see when their favorite players can get on the field and can cheer for them by looking at the tv screens. It is definitely sad but necessary.
